Wear the crop top: Simplicity 9550

Overview:

Temps and hemlines are rising! And no matter your size I say embrace the crop top this spring/summer season!

Pattern:

This is just one of those patterns that I immediately knew I was purchasing. I love the short set, the skirt is cute too I just don't see myself sewing it. I'll certainly sew the short set soon as it's on my spring to sew list, but I just had to knock the top out for fit first.

This top is View B which features the cuffed sleeve and the V tie back. It was hard to decided as the elastic sleeve is cute as well, but I thought the cuff may be more comfy to wear and the tie back is just cute. Not surprisingly the top comes together quickly.

Fabric:

This cotton gauze is from Joann a couple of years back. They still carry gauze but I no longer see this coral shade that they called grenadine. This is the same fabric that I used to make McCalls 8035 maxi dress. It was a one yard remnant piece that I grabbed to make a solid top to go with a previously made pair of pull on gauze pants. Actually the plan was to make another one of Mimi's patterns, S9114. I'm glad I never got around to using this fabric for that as this top is so darn cute. Most of the time I find these things simply work out!

Modifications:

So while I stated above that I think anyone, who wants to, should rock a crop top I'd be lying if I said I felt real confident about my body - specifically the midsection - right now as I'm the heaviest I've ever been. That said I'm still rocking this top, but I did decided to length the crop a bit for a tad bit more coverage, but the whole point of sewing is getting the fit you want, right?

Summary:

This is a cute top that I plan on wearing often this season.
