Twisted Tee: McCalls 7975
Overview:
I grabbed this pattern with plans to sew it in the fall, but never got around to it. Then I realized that view A would be great for the summer and decided to go ahead and whip it up. Some patterns with this twist detail can have some confusing steps on how to create the effect, but McCalls did a good job on making it as simple as possible.
If I'm being honest the top didn't turn out as great as I'd hoped. I sewed an XL based on the bust finished measurement and it feels a little loose despite being described as close fitted. I realized I overlooked the fit on model as it does look loose on her. The knot also sat lower than I had envisioned, again my fault because that is clear on photo and the line drawing.
Fabric:
My fabric choice didn't help this make either. It was a bargain buy from Walmart's remnants, $4 for 2 yards. I knew when I grabbed it that it was pretty thin, almost a tissue jersey with a slub knit look, but my thought was a light knit would drape in the twist nicely.
After sewing it up I've changed my mind and it be best made with a medium weight knit like a double brushed poly or a lightweight liverpool.

Summary:
This top didn't live up to my expectations, but I'm going to hold on to the pattern and give it another try in a heavier knit come fall.

Pattern Description: Close fitting Tops in two lengths, forms draped knot through front opening, have neck band, sleeve and hem length variation.
Sizing: XS-XXL. I cut a XL (44" bust)
Does it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
Did I make in alterations? None, next time I'll chose a size smaller and maybe try to shorten it.
Would I sew it again? I'm going to give it one more try
Would I recommend it to others? At this time, no
