My New Fave Tee Pattern : Simplicity 9273

Overview:

I'm adding this top to my list of TNT (tried and true) patterns because I love the way it turned out and it whips up so quickly. I've already made two with a third planned.

Pattern:

I love a pattern that sews up fast because I often want instant gratification. Not many garments are easier to sew than a knit tee! The plus about this pattern are the sleeve options; a standard half sleeve, a gathered poof short sleeve or a pleated short sleeve. The later two give an extra little something to an otherwise simple tee.

Another plus is even in the largest size, XXL, all three views require less that 1.5 yards making it a great use of your larger scraps. Only 1 yard is necessary for XXS-S sizes.

Fabric:

The striped jersey knit was a great find from Wal-Mart's remnant section. I actually grabbed three as shown below. Each were just $4 for 2 yards. I actually have cut out another of these tees with the white jersey. The fabric I used for this top is lightweight, but not sheer, perfect for a summer tee.

I always gravitate to striped fabric and then regret it when it's time to sew it up. This tee was pretty simple so it wasn't difficult to line up the stripes on the sides, but I only tried to match the sleeves to each other not the body of the tee.

I made these shoes BTW, post coming soon!

The floral fabric was yet another remnant, but I snagged it from Joann. I only had a yard so I had to be really careful about pattern placement as the pattern called for 1-1/4 for a large. I did have some solid blue knit on standby for the neck and arm bands just in case, but I didn't need it.

This one is doubled brushed poly so it had a little more weight and body to it that the striped jersey. Hopefully it won't be too hot to wear comfortably.
