Ankara Pinafore: Untitled Thoughts Fleur
I'm so excited to share my Untitled Thought Fleur Pinafore which I recently tested. It is a very versatile pattern as it can be worn all year round as either a skirt-all or fancy apron for cooking or gardening.
The Fleur transitions from warm to cool weather as it can be worn over a bodysuit with sandals or a sweater and tights. There are two strap options (button and tie) and Brittani will be offering a tutorial for cross back strap option. She'll also be providing info on how to make the bib detachable, which is my favorite hack (see here and here). A bib pocket as well as large patch pockets for the skirt are also included in the pattern.
Untitled Thoughts pattern have non-conventional sizing offering sizes 1-16. I sewed a size 9 based on the finished measurements and my 36" waist there's about an inch of ease. I knew I would be wearing my Fleur over t-shirts or body suits so I wanted the waistband to be fairly fitted. If you may wear yours over a sweaters or just want a looser fit allow 2-3" of ease.
I used an Ankara cotton I had in my stash. I played around with the positioning of my pattern pieces due to the bold print of my fabric and I like the way it turned out. I opted for the tie strap option because I thought the ties were cute. Unfortunately I omitted the bib and skirt pockets because I didn't want to break up the bold print. Those elements will be really fun to play with in a stripe or plaid or maybe colorblocking solids.
This skirt has side button closures which I love because it allows you to add some additional details. I only had 3 of the red buttons and each side needs 3 so I used the red button for the waistband and bronze snaps for the plackets. Though Untitled Thoughts patterns are drafted for a person who is 5" 8" the skirt length worked great for me at 5' 5" as most of height is in my legs.
