Epitome of Comfy Chic: Kommatia Harry

I was excited to be test for Kommatia Patterns. This Harry dress and I were love at first sight (or email open). I love that it is a easy knit dress (just 3 pattern pieces) and that it can be dressed up and down. The simplicity of the dress allows it to show off large or busy patterns, but also works well for solids. I was really attracted to the asymmetrical shoulders and the curved hemline. I've never seen a pattern quite like this and I love that it is unique.

I used a large floral panel ITY that has been in my stash for a couple of years from a sewing conference (here, similar, similar). I've just never had the right project for it as I knew the pattern placement was critical. The large front pattern piece allowed me to center the large flower and the lack of seams shows it off uninterrupted. I dressed this version up with heels, perfect for a night out, but if you use a solid or maybe a stripe you could certainly dress it down.

The only issue I had with this version was the length it was a tad short on me. The pattern drawing was a little deceitful as shows it hitting just above the knee but in their defense it hits the pattern model mid thigh. I don't mind this for a night out but I wouldn't be shopping for milk and eggs in it. Next time I will add 2" to the hem.I will definitely make this dress again, most likely in a solid but I could see a stripe. Other ideas I've thought up include a contrast neck and arm binding or a border print ITY.
