Sunny Summer Separates: McCall's 7757 and 8259
I knew I had to have these polka dot fabrics when I saw it on Melanated Fabrics Instagram feed. It was available in several colors, but narrowed it down to orange and yellow. Ultimately went with yellow. I grabbed 2 yds of both the yellow on white and the white on yellow.

Pattern:
When I purchased this fabric, I was unsure whether I would use these fabrics for a pattern blocked one piece or mix n match separates. In the end separates won because I don't make them often and they're more versatile (although I love one pieces).
I decided against all the patterns in the picture above once I saw this reel that Brittany J Jones shared. I loved her wrap skirt so much that I went on the hunt for M8259.
Yes I'm sure other wrap patterns would have worked like the Closet Core Fiore, but I wanted the true wrap with ties. Like most wrap skirts this was a quick and easy sew. there's just three main seams (center back and each side) and attaching the waistband. There is a good amount of hemming and a buttonhole to contend with but neither are tricky for an advanced beginner.
For the top I sewed McCall's 7757 which I've sewn before (here) . With only 2 yards of the yellow on white fabric and knowing I wanted two tops I had to be creative. This view calls for just over a yard which was exactly what I needed.
This crop top paired with the wrap skirt gives me a flirty, vacay vibe and I love it.
Fabric:
I started out by saying I knew I wanted this fabric and I was not disappointed. It's a 100% viscose so it feels, drapes, presses and sews wonderfully. As you may have noticed I'm on a yellow kick right know so this vivid yellow and bright white just spoke to me.
I decided to make the skirt with yellow background fabric because I'm always worried about getting white dirty. Yes a white top can get dirty too but my mind always goes to sitting in something. Also I just prefer lighter colors on top in general.
Modifications:
Not many were made as these are easy patterns. I did add two inches to the bottom of the top for a little extra coverage. And I used 3/4" elastic for the top band because that's what I had. Because of this it's a little tight under the arms. I plan to deepen the armholes.
I wanted the length and fullness of view C, but not the curved front so I squared it off. I also considered adding pockets but didn't want to add weight to the side seams. Next time I will definitely do French seams to make the whole garment cleaner on the inside.
Summary:
I really like this pairing. It's fun, bright and summery. My goal was to get 1 bottom and 2 tops from this fabric so stay further for more because I'm not done with this fabric yet.
