Navy Floral Tunic: Vogue 8977

V8977BlueFrontI've had this gorgeous navy floral stretch crepe fabric from LA Finch Fabrics since last summer. Unfortunately, it's sold out now but they always have a great selection of fashion wovens. Luckily, I did manage to find this same fabric at fabric.com in blue and pink.Bubble Crepe Tropical Floral Black/Poppy/GoldJosephine of LA Finch Fabrics was kind enough to include a few yards of this fabric in an order that I picked up from her personally at Mimi G's sewing conference. I loved it so much that it took me a while to decide exactly what to make with. I considered the very popular V9253 caftan, a wrap top like M6961 or even a romper like M7577.V8977BlueOTSStepUltimately I decided on Vogue 8977, because I had made it before from my Sudoku Wardrobe contest entry in early 2018 and loved it. I rarely get excited about tops so this was a big deal. Sadly, I misjudged the sizing so it was a tad tight in the bust and underarm . I've since put on a bit of weight so I that top is waiting for me to be dedicated about my diet. Anywho, this meant it was time for a new V8977 and this fabric was great for that.PhotoGrid_1524745175347.jpgThis go around I sewed a Medium and added about 5/8" to the sleeve width and added that same 5/8" to the armscye of the bodice front and back side seam grading back to the original side seam. Every thing came together quickly and easily as this is a Very Easy Vogue pattern.V8977BlueBackCloseButtons are always hard for me because I typically shop for them at Joann and they don't have the best selection. (Where do you get your buttons? Let me know in the comments.) After finding no good options at Joann I dug out these buttons I had purchased for another project but never used and they were an perfect match to the red flowers in the print.V8977BlueLeanI will put this pattern in my TNT category and I still want to make another one with a few more inches added at the hem so I can wear it as a dress. I really wish I would've thought to do that before I cut this one, but I love it as a tunic so it's still a win.V8977BlueDandelionPattern: Vogue 8977Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting top has front pleats, shaped hemline, wrong side shows on back hemline and back button-down closure.
