Madeline Ballet Sweater by Laela Jeyne

MadelineCloseFrontI had the pleasure to test the Madeline Ballet Sweater from Laela Jeyne Patterns newly released “Family Photos” collection. This sweater is a versatile layering piece you’ll want to add to your fall wardrobe.Image may contain: 3 people, drawingThe look of this crop length wrap top sweater that brings to mind a ballerina in training. Three options closure are included (button closure, wrap ties or banded) as well as two sleeve lengths (three-quarter and long). This pattern accommodates most as it is sized for XXS-3XL.MadelineFront2Sewing this sweater is a breeze! I used an ITY I had in my stash for a project that never came to fruition, but you could use any knit from a jersey to a sweater knit. I selected the banded version and while that makes it a pullover sweater I think it’s the quickest to sew. If you prefer something a tad easier to take on and off the button or wrap closure may work better for you and it only adds a few steps to the construction.MadelineCloseQtrFrontRegardless of which view you chose the instructions are straightforward from the fabric layout to the technical drawings. I love that Laela Jeyne’s pdf patterns offer layers, that way you can simply view and print only the size you need or select two sizes to grade from your bust to your waist. Another bonus is NO TRIMMING, simply butt up the pages using the US letter or A4 guidelines, tape and cut.MadelineCloseQtrThe Madeline is perfect for extending the wear of your favorite summer dress, just add this sweater and tights with some boots. It can also be worn over a fitted tee or better yet the very on-trend bodysuit and jeans or a skirt. I plan to sew up a couple more in solid black and maybe brown just to keep in my car. I can’t be the only one that is dressed for the weather but ends up in a freezing movie theater or restaurant without a jacket. Another great place to store one is at work for those chilly conference rooms.MadelineBackGo ahead and purchase your Madeline Ballet Sweater today and save 40% (savings expires 10/21/17).
