Eggplant Pintuck Skinny Pants - Simplicity 1019

I keep thinking today is Friday so I want to say TGIF, but instead I will say happy almost Friday! Anyway, whatever day it is I just wanted to bring you this quick pattern review for Simplicity 1019 (a Mimi G pattern!).s1019frontIf you've been following along with me on the Fabric Mart Fabricista Fashion Challenge then you know I made these pants for my Week 3 Sewing Tutorial on How to Hem Pants challenge. I mentioned that I was happy to be assigned the How to Hem Pants tutorial because I had these pants on my to do list ever since this pattern was released.s1019front2I don't make many pants but these seemed straight forward and I loved that they called for a knit. I used eggplant ponte from Fabric Mart because I have quite a bit of it and I love purple. I also thought that purple would photograph better than a black or gray.I love this pattern. The instructions are straightforward, but why read the pattern when you can sew along with Mimi G herself! Mimi G provides a sew along video for each view of all of her Simplicity patterns. Isn't that awesome! If you are experienced sewists you likely won't need either as the pants sew up quickly.s1019backI typically do a BBA (big booty adjustment) on any pants pattern (meaning I cut along the crotch line of the back leg pattern piece from the inside seam almost to the side seam and spread it outabout 1" to allow some extra room for my derriere) but I was rushing with the pants because I really needed to get to the hemming portion for my tutorial. I realized this as soon as I had cut the pattern piece out of the ponte, I decided to move ahead and thankfully I did not have a bit issue. I'm assuming because Mimi G is a curvy girl herself her patterns might accommodate curves better. Whatever the reason I was ecstatic and plan to purchase and sew up any of her pants patterns.Check out the photo I createdThe only adjustment I made was increasing the SA for the front crotch to 3/4" to eliminate pull along the front of the pant. The only change I should have done was place the back pockets closer to the center, I feel they are too far apart. I love these pants and will be making more!Pattern: Simplicity 1019Pattern Description: Simplicity Pattern designed by Mimi G features knit tunic with side slits in two lengths and separate belt & cowl.
